EA Chief: Wii to cost 'about $170' in Japan

David Gardner, executive VP and COO of EA's worldwide studios, has said that the Wii's pricing has been set at around $170 US for the Japanese market. "I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don't know if the price has been set in Europe yet," Gardner said. "Nintendo has come up with a very clever strategy," he continued. "They've made a choice which is great for the consumer. Now we're going to have a choice whereby consumers can buy a Wii, plus one other console." Pricing information for the Wii is expected to be revealed at a Nintendo press conference on Sept. 14.
