Major game publisher Activision is fed up with sub-standard Wii ports of multiplatform games. The company has recently kicked off a new ad campaign to highlight games that they are developing exclusively for the Wii from the ground up. The first games under development include Little League World Series 2008, Rapala Fishing Frenzy and Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On. These titles aren't enough to get us excited, but the company promises more game announcements in the upcoming weeks, all of which are planned to hit shelves this holiday season. A spokesperson for Activision had the following to say about the company's plans:
"The Wii is introducing new audiences to gaming. Clearly, the Wii's accessible controls are changing how the audience plays games and how we look at game design. This initiative is designed to showcase games that take full advantage of the Wii's capabilities."
The "Wee 1ST" brand is supported will be accompanied by a national television and print advertising campaign scheduled to kick off this fall. New branding is already beginning to appear on game boxes and at retail locations throughout the United States.
