This week, RPG fans can get their hands on two great retro console titles for the price of one. The first two games in the acclaimed series Ys (pronounced "eese") make their way to the Virtual Console today. The games are remastered from the Turbo Grafx 16 CD version, which featured a lovely, fully orchestrated soundtrack and voice acting throughout.

The first two titles in the Ys series revolve around Adol Christin, a young, red-haired swordsman on a quest to unlock the secrets of an ancient kingdom. As Adol, you search throughout the island of Esteria, gathering clues to unravel the mystery of Ys. The game was unique among other console RPGs, because it gave the player complete control over the main character during attacks. Similar to the later 2D Zelda titles, Ys allows the player to swing his sword to attack enemies, something which must be done with skill to avoid being hurt by their attacks.

Both games come for the combined price of 800 Wii points, and support single-player only.
