Wii HD component cable for under $20

Wii owners who haven't made the jump to component cables don't have to pay a huge margin.

The Mad Catz brand Wii HD component cables are available from our partners Amazon.com for $19.99. By comparison, Nintendo Co.'s high-definition component cables sell for $29.99.

High-definition buffs scrambled to purchase HD cables for Wii during launch, however most retailers held little to no stock of the product. Component cables allow Wii owners to view 480p resolution compared to lower resolution composite cables.

The top Wii resolution is below competitive offerings like Sony's Playstation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360, which boast 1080p full high-definition resolution.

Nintendo has opted to concentrate on the motion-sensitive remote control interface for Wii rather than powerful graphics hardware.

The strategy has paid off as Wii was the top-selling system in Jan. Stateside. The console has also performed well in Japan and Europe.
